Volkswagen & Lettera

This 8-day project focused on developing my motion design skills by bringing two iconic pre-motion-era ads to life: Volkswagen’s Think Small (1960s) and Giovanni Pintori’s Olivetti Lettera 22. Choosing two iconic ads allowed me to already have a solid base in terms of design also while learning from the iconic design. Each poster took four days to reinterpret, starting with an analysis of their core design elements: typography, grid systems, and colour played a pivotal role in making these ads stand out. My goal was to preserve their original ideas while translating them into the digital age: creating a prequel animation for Think Small and adding movement to Lettera 22. Both were designed in a phone format, reimagined as social media ads: today’s version of the classic print campaign.
